This weekend promises to be rather excellent.
Monsieur gh and myself shall be sullying forth into London Town, to do what, we do not yet know, and to see whom, we do not yet know. We have a slightly better idea of what will be drunk, but only as yet in terms of quantities.
I like this stage, when things are formless and crackling with potential...
Any ideas or recommendations for two young gentlemen in London of a Saturday night?

My favourite place!
What sort of gaffs do you tend to frequent? Ye olde pubs? Bars with loadsa metal, glass, and brown cubey "poofs"? Or "indie" bars with wood and stuff? Let us know and I might have a couple of ideas for ya...
Completely open to suggestion. Any personal favourites?
Blimey, your comment response time is unparalleled! Errrm, I'm probably gonna get shouted down by some proper Londoners (I've only been in the big smoke for the last few months - be nice), but I went to The Langley near Covent Garden tube before xmas and it seemed pretty groovy; expensive though. I'll be back with more as my memory churns...
I'll go with either metal, glass or wood, so long as none of it is likely to wind up flying at me in small pointy pieces.
I'll go with that as a criteria as well...
You just know that I'm going to tell you to hang out in Camden, Stuart.
They take away my NW1 privileges if I don't.
You have privileges?
That's cool.
If you're going up that way, you could try "The Gallery", West Hampstead. Left out the tube, then left again and it's on your left. Hmmm... I've said left so many times the word's lost all meaning.
Hope I'm not too late - mmmm, metal, glass and wood - I'd take Soho
Food - Wood - loads of noodle places with long wooden benches - the best being satsuma it's like a more comfy and less bright version of wagamama's - although it can get busy at the weekends.
Metal and Glass - Belgo's - good if you like mussels and chips also has a huge selection of Belgian Beer. Waiters are sometimes dressed up like monks.
Drinks - loads of smaller pubs in Soho where you don't need a mortgage to buy a pint - The Old Red Lion - corner of Archer Street and Great Windmill Street, The Glass House Stores on Brewer Street, The Duke of Argyll, corner of Brewer Street and Great Windmill Street, The White Horse, corner of Archer Street and Rupert Street. All a few minutes walk within Piccadilly Circus tube. You can tell I hate large pubs like All Bar One and Moon under rip off Wetherspoons sort of thangs.
Lots of Belle de Jour's cheaper mates will be standing in doorways near the smaller Soho pubs trying to tempt you in - I don't know if glass, metal and wood come into it, but probably they would if you asked.
If you're on the pull - go to Onanon - just outside Piccadilly Circus tube - enormous cattle market with many floors of people trying to cop off with each other.
If you like cocktails go to Jewel - very near Piccadilly Circus
Have fun
Wow, thanks Annie!
I've been to Onanon before, but with an enormous group of friends...I never realised...
