New York.
Tomorrow.
Excited. Short sentences.
Reading. Site of my chosen airline.
Funny. Very funny.
Especially the inflight descriptions.
Inflight Cuisine: From Food to Spirituality
"...having nature’s bounty, the earliest civilisations, a rich and varied cultural heritage, a glorious past… and you can expect the perpetuations of a great legacy."
That'll be curry, then?
"...not only does the food smell or look gorgeous, it fires your appetite until you and your taste buds succumb to temptation. And the seduction is total! Efforts to resist indulgence often prove futile."
Borg curry? And what's with 'or gorgeous'? Does it only smell gorgeous, but look gross, or vice versa?
"...But you will feel no remorse because such sublime and experiences are a step closer to spirituality."
Um.
Am worried now.
Don't want religious conversion through curry.
Just a flight to New York.
Thanks.
Still, I'm intrigued. What's available on the plane?
Linked to here. Scrolled down and spotted "High fibre/high residue meal".
Don't want to be on a flight with people eating a high residue meal.
Please Mummy.
Pressing forwards through the site, I discover that I can buy:
'Maharajah's Treasures - Duty Free!'
Which will be good if I forget to take a little something for mein hostesses.
But what. Do I do. For entertainment?
Air India have this covered. A number of musical channels, covering the golden years of Hollywood, all of the years of Bollywood, and a disturbing amount of Tom Jones...is listed here. I think my favourite channel will be 'Nostalgia Gold' (scroll down about 2/3 of the page - check out the image!).
Nevertheless.
Still.
Excited.

Have fun. I recommend trying Starbucks for the novelty value. :-)
You MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST go to a Jewish deli and have the matzoh ball soup.
Try Katz's on Houston Street. And don't stand for any of this 2nd Avenue Deli nonsense either.
may The Force be with you...
if you don't get enough indian on the plane, try 1st ave and 6th street. have fun. ooo - and i highly recommend a slice of cheesecake at junior's in grand central station. mmm.
Have a nice trip Stu. Is it business or pleasure or both or neither?
I think kat's a teeny bit obsessed with the cheesecake at junior's.. anyway, am jealous. have a good time :)
while we do have lovely sourdough bread, they do not make cheesecake like that in california.
Since kat reccomended Indian, I will too! I went to a place in May that I loved. Basera Indian, 257 East 50th St (b/t 1st and 2nd Ave.). Chicken Ticca Masala is fantastic! If you go for lunch do not get the buffet ticca masala make them make a fresh plate for you. It is much better! Have fun!
