It's Not Funny

Guys.

(And when I say that, I mean guys who are girls as well as guys who are guys)

Hi.

Thanks for dropping by again!
How the hell have you been?

Me?
Well, I'm not doing much, it has to be said. Scrimping on the pennies. Saving everything I can for the move to the States...the move to Krissa. Yeah, since I met her I've cut back enormously. But it's worth it a hundred thousand times over.

I mean, it's going to be between four and eight months before I can move there. That's one hell of a long time to go without seeing the love of my life, isn't it? I mean she's coming in a week or so for a few days...but then the summer months stretch out...and at the moment they're short on Krissa.

We set up this paypal thing as a travel fund. The summer airfares between the UK and the US are twice what they are in the off season, and so we thought it might be cool to open a pot and see if anything happened to be dropped in it...you know, by passersby for buskers. We're not doing this for the money, we're doing this because it's something else we can do that might help us be together.

And if there's something we can do, we're doing it. So if you have a few quid spare, or dollars languishing unused...there's a little button in the sidebar, and it's for love.

Cheers guys...for everything, really. The supportive comments, the faith, the help, the tips for job applications, everything.

This is independent of whether or not you sling us some small change:

You're brilliant.
Thank you.

i can't BELIEVE y'all called it the love fund. but there's ten bucks anyway.

Oh go on then, if only so you can get a better travelling hat than last time.

Does anyone else remember damnthepacific.com?

no? what was it?

A few years ago, when I first started blogging, there was a site called damnthepacific.com, set up by an australian lad and an american girl who had met (in a chatroom or something) and fallen in love. Their site was a weblog whose sole purpose was to beg for money through paypal, so that they could one day meet in real life.

Eventually they made enough money for the plane fare, and he went to visit her (or she him, I can't remember), and it was all hearts and flowers and everything was wonderful.

The next time I checked, there was a bare little notice saying actually she wasn't moving to australia after all because she had met someone else.

Now it's a dating site.

crikey. well thanks karen. i hope stuart and i do better than THAT.

I'm always a sucker for a soppy love story but will have to wait 'til payday
