We have a bit of an announcement...
A few months ago I decided to go to New York on the spur of a moment. When I was there I was introduced to the most amazing woman I have ever met in my life, and we fell in love.
Within three days we were fully aware that we were hopelessly in love, and the same day I made the decision to move to New York.
I spent those days in New York trying to take in one of the most vibrant cities in the world in a daze as the enormity of our feelings and what we had found in each other dawned on me. This was no holiday romance, this was no fleeting passion lent intensity through the approach of separation. The love we had found was something much, much deeper, something fundamental but exciting, flowing and growing and changing with each day and each moment and each shared experience; something elemental.
Five days later I looked into Krissa's eyes and asked her to marry me, and she said yes.
So there was a mixed purpose to the weekend we have just enjoyed - Krissa came home with me to the Isle of Wight to meet my family, to meet her new family. We have filed a petition for a visa with the INS for me to come to the US...and now it is only a matter of time before we are together, before we are married.
We are in love.

Congratulations! So happy for the both of you, glad that things have worked out.
Congratulations, and all the very best.
Ooh, that's wonderful! I'm almost speechless.
Congratulations!
Wow! Amazing! I am so happy for you two!
congrats! i'm totally happy for you two!
All congratulations in the world. Having just celebrated our own 22nd year of wedded bliss this past weekend, I wish you at least equal amounts of joy as we've been fortunate enough to share.
Blimey. Congratulations and all the best.
Good God. Congratulations, sir.
fuck me! mazeltov!
Best wishes and long live true love!
How wonderful! Congratulations to both of you.
Wonderful. Yay for you both!
M A Z E L T O V!!! Gee, why am I not surprised at this news? Have you set a date yet? Well, I'm off to peruse Krissa's blog...
How very lucky you are. It's so rare to find your soul mate. I hope you have a wonderful life together.
Flipping heck, that's marvellous! Congratulations!
(An aside. The couple we're going on holiday with next month got married just two weeks after meeting at a party. Nine years later, they simply radiate blissful contentment. Meanwhile, my partner and I moved in together within two months of meeting - and 19 years later, we're still together. So, lest anyone think that this is all a bit... sudden... I say: phooey.)
Phooey?
/laughs.
And the funny thing is I'm composing a mix CD in my head already.
Congratulations to you both, as you slide down the bannister of life may the splinters always point the right way.
And about time too ;-0)))
I can't better Gordon's wishes so will just say many congratulations to you both.
Yeah, I second that phooey.
I hope you two haven't been kissing.
WOW.
Two words: Congratulations (and) Bless.
wonderful news - congratulations to you both.
(and another phooey from me - Q moved in after 6 weeks of meeting me.)
Amazing news!!!
Congratulations, I'm sure you'll have a great future together.
I'm sorry about the weird situation re comments on my blog. There doesn't seem to be any way to change it :( I'm not happy with it, just don't know what to do about it.
As I said at Krissa's blog...Yay!
Mate, I'd like to represent all the crew over on the FJ forums when I say that we wish you both the profoundest joy and happiness you could ever hope for!
I'd say good luck, but you don't need it. Yours is a modern day love story that's influenced my own in quite a major way. I'm more prepared to follow my heart and what's right for me as a person as opposed to the strict logic and pessimism of the mind than ever before. Thanks.
oh, and, ahem, talking of mix CDs.
How crass of me. heh.
Congratulations! All the very best for both of you!!!
wow whee!
Congrats!!!
Congratulations! Am so happy for you guys!
This is so nice to hear... i wish you both whatever nice and beautiful you can think of!!
Congratulations, Badgett, old boy! I suppose I should save the rest of the Fleur Adcock story for later...
Wow! Hearty congratulations and blessings galore to you both. If I had a glass eye, this would bring a tear to it.
Many congratulations to you both.
And I'd agree, when you meet the right person for you, you know instantly. Welcome to the ranks of those of us who have been that fortunate.
Oh my! Congratulations!
Flippin' 'eckers like. You two are mental. You really should try living together for a bit first. I mean, what if she does some bizarre ritual dance every fortnight or something. She might well do so, and you wouldn't even know. Good God man, think of the children! Okay, what I meant to say is "congrats". Do it. Do it. Marriage is a fine institution; I'll tell you that for free.
