An appeal from a friend and old Warwick Alumn:
New York, New York
We are going to New York in April. We have no idea where to stay!
If you have any advice on hotels and/or good locations then please let me know. We are after a double room for 5 nights for less than £600. Obviously the cheaper the better, but we are stupid, extravagant bastards, and want to stay somewhere swanky.
Many thanks!
Now my knowledge of New York doesn't really extend to hotels...can anyone give Tal and James some pointers?

The Paramount is swanky and conveniently located and I think it's about $200 a night. The rooms are small but celebs hang out in the bar. If that's too pricy the Milford Plaza is less expensive but totally not swanky at all. Given the current currency exchange situation, whichever hotel they stay in will probably owe THEM money. I should probably have posted this in his blog, but I didn't. Welcome to New York.
there was a MUG piece on this semi-recently....I don't know the link but its probably not to hard to find on it.
the Best Western on 32nd st. little korea (i think). $100-$120 a night and they give you breakfast. i mean it's just bagels, but please, that's awesome. nice area, walking distance to penn station, macy's, etc. very clean, nice service. 212.736.1600.
of course the W in Times Square is totally trendy and very hip and young (supposedly).
The Gershwin in midtown isn't swanky, but it's cheap and decent (about $80/night). They could do cheap but decent for 5 days and super-swanky for two...
