The End Of My Tether...

stuartbridgett79: le sigh.

stuartbridgett79: so much of le sigh.

Biscuit: Sigh?

stuartbridgett79: I have gone to using google as a jobseeking tool

Biscuit: I need a weekend job.

stuartbridgett79: and after various attempts at changing around 'engineering vacancies NY'

stuartbridgett79: I went to google and typed 'give me an engineering job now you bastards' and hit "i'm feeling lucky"

stuartbridgett79: Try it.

Biscuit: I would start by not using the term "vacancies"

stuartbridgett79: no, okay, it was different stuff. But I wanted to get across to you what I've been doing.

stuartbridgett79: Have you tried it yet?

Biscuit: WAIT A MINUTE

Biscuit: why does that

Biscuit: HEY!!

stuartbridgett79: Yes.

Biscuit: What did you DO?

stuartbridgett79: Hence: le sigh.

stuartbridgett79: That's quite something, huh?

Biscuit: How did you DO THAT?

stuartbridgett79: Absolutely positively no idea.

Biscuit: that's like

Biscuit: IMPOSSIBLE.

stuartbridgett79: I know.

OMG sniffle hahaha that was so full of comi-tragedy and bathos and everything one could EVER ask. le poor stuart! le frustration! enivrez-vous!

that was hilarious! and sad. good luck.

OMG is right. DeLurking over this post....wow.

Also delurking over this. Wow. LOL.

I am so impressed. It's as bad as typing in my research topic and google bringing up my home page.

Absolutely brilliant.

Its actually not that difficult. Lots of people link to you, so you've got a pretty good pagerank. Your site is fairly search engine friendly (the code is nice, quite good semantically [i.e. you use the right elements for the job] and the URIs aren't messy things full of question marks). Not only that, but the page in question has a high proliferation of the keywords "give me an engineering job now you bastards". Just think, in the not too distant future, this entry will probably come up first ;-)

It does come up first. Excellent.

The thing was, Anne, I actually hit 'I'm feeling lucky' when I did it, being confusingly presented with my own page.

So very disorientating.

I can see why that would confuse you, but maybe Google is prophetic. Self employment beckons?

Don't think that hadn't occurred to me too, Gordon, but I think it'll do me good to get to know the US on a fiscal level before venturing out...

Brilliant! Better than a googlewhack.
