Stunned

I wrote a story this week. I finished it a couple of hours ago.
The really big thing is that I've finished it.
That f-word crops up a lot less than I'd like.

Finished finished finished finished finished.

And the other thing is that it's 17,000 words long...and I started it on Thursday.

Finished.
(Still savouring that word)
And I likeit.

There are fewer italics in the story, honest. I'm just excited.
I can't get over it. I started, worked on, and finished something.

I feel really rather fucking good.

As it should. Finishing something, wow. Finishing a story, wow-er.

Well done! I'm pushed to finish emails these days - blog comments even - but you've inspired me. There's this writing competition I'm interested in. 60,000 words by the end of September. Maybe I could.

Wow I'm impressed. You going to do the pee word? (Published?)

Nevermind that. Is it your summer assignment, that's what I want to know. Surely only a Doctor of your standing would be so bold as to knock out 17,000 words before you've even started work on your Summer Assignment?

Anne, thanks. I have a great heart and enthusiasm for starting things - I have an unfinished 75,000 word project from 2002/3, an unfinished thirty-something thousand word project from earlier this year, and I don't know how many unfinished stories lying about the place. Finishing is a rare event. I think I get scared of rounding something off and ending it. As it is, the end of this story needs work...probably because I haven't written as many story endings as I have written story beginnings.

M - do it! I literally started on Thursday night after an idea hit me while I was doing the washing up. At 3am, Krissa had to nearly concuss me to get me to go to bed, I was so excited.

Adrian, pee-words have not been considered, no, but after reading it K is pushing me to try and get it in an online magazine or summat. I want to tinker with it a bit, but that might not be a bad idea.

Good Doctor, I do beg your pardon, it was indeed a frippery, a sideline, a whimsical work of fancy.
Work on the summer project shall begin apace, I promise you.

Are their not print magazines that still do Short Stories? I need more famouse friends. You gotta get published.

A big congrats to you! It must feel wonderful!

I'm just happy to have finally finished the opening chapter of my book last night, after 5 attempts at it over the last month. Maybe you rubbed off on me? :)

Fripperies, sidelines, and whimsical works of fancy are precisely the order of the day! In fact, if you could conflate them into one whimsical fripline we'd be happier still.

Two whimsical friplines of proportionate metre would be a blessing, whereas anymore would be a superabundance.

17,000 words must constitute over 1000 whimsical friplines, which would be more than adequate to assuage our literary desires.

Adrian, er. Yeah, I suppose so. But they're favoured by OAPs and the like, and er, well, this isn't that sort of story.

Katie, I'm glad! But please don't give Adrian that sort of leading line. He's dangerous when given set up lines like that.

Doctor, that ranks as one of my favourite comments ever.

Sheesh, I'm being slandered here.

Tell me that wasn't something you'd normally use as a set-up line, and I'll withdraw the slander!
